ASEA-UNINET Project Funding
ASEA-UNINET Austria aims to promote research and teaching activities between the member universities in Austria and South-East Asia. ASEA-UNINET Project Funding is offered
- for doctoral students and researchers (Clinical traineeship projects are exempt from this restriction)
- from all fields of study/research: Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, Human Medicine, Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts
The funding is organized by the OeAD-GmbH/MPC in cooperation with ASEA-UNINET (on behalf of and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research – BMBWF).
General information:
- All universities involved in a project must be ASEA-UNINET members or candidate members.
- At least one cooperating university has to be an ASEA-UNINET member university in Austria.
- All project participants in receipt of funding must be employees of the Austrian or ASEAN (incl. Pakistani) partner university/universities at the time the project is carried out.
Country of origin / Target country (mobilities in both directions):
- Austria
- Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam
Maximum age:
No age limit 🙂
The Call 2024 is closed!
Project implementation period:
1-year projects: 01 January 2025 – 31 December 2025
2-year projects: 01 January 2025 – 31 December 2026
Closing date for applications:
04 November, 2024
Important information on submitting applications (Updated on 09 October 2024):
The Call 2025 is expected to open in February 2025.
Where to apply
Applications can ONLY be submitted by members of the Austrian ASEA-UNINET (candidate) member universities!
Please note that the application must be accompanied by a number of supplements:
- CV of the project leader incl. language skills and academic status (for early-stage researchers). Status (for early-stage researchers)
- Publication list of the project leader (relevant publications of the last two years)
- Abstract
- Project description incl. methods (3-5 pages)
- Short description of the partner institution involved (incl. justification for selection)
- Future cooperation perspectives
- Letter of Endorsement – please use
- Project member_tasks – please use
- Budget plan – please use

Selection process:
Incomplete applications and applications not complying with the application criteria will not be accepted for further selection process.
The selection follows a multi-stage process:
- Examination of the formal requirements and the applications‘ general plausibility by the OeAD
- Examination of the valid project applications by ASEA-UNINET experts
- Final decision by the BMBWF
