In April 2018 the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw) sent two full professors of performing arts to Vietnam. Beverly Blankenship and Anna Maria Krassnigg developed and rehearsed a performance of William Shakespeare’s „Romeo and Juliet“ with students of the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema (HATC). The documentary attends the artistic work abroad and looks behind the scenes of a collaboration with enormous benefits for students and universities.
This collaboration project of international artistic, educational and cultural exchange has been conducted by ASEA-UNINET members mdw and Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema (ASEA-UNINET candidate member until February 2019). We are glad that Hanoi Academy of Theatroe and Cinema became a full member of ASEA-UNINET at this year’s ASEA-UNINET Plenary Meeting, hold from 22nd to 25th February 2019 at the University of Danang in Danang, Vietnam.

As a part of longstanding collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and BOKU Vienna, an elementary analyser from Institute of Soil Research has reached its final destination in Yogyakarta, to be a part of instrumental analytical devices to be used by several institutes.
Elementary analyzers are used for geo-sciences related studies, determination of carbon stocks in soil, process optimization and control of bioreactors and raw protein determination in food technology. The Carlo Erba NA 1500 instrument, the best of analogue instrumentation, had been in use at BOKU’s Institute for Soil Research (IBF) for more than two decades and now became transformed with new interfaces to the digital world. It now combines all features of modern software with retro-look. This was made possible with passion and ambitions from two service engineers Anton Cech (Thermo Scientific) and Andreas Kitzler (Agilent Technologies Austria).
The donation was made possible through the support of BOKU Vienna Rector Hubert Hasenauer, Univ. Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.nat.techn. and IBF with the help of Margarita Calderón-Peter and her team from the Centre for International Relations as well as, by Andreas Kitzler, Agilent Technologies Austria.

A training course for the Indonesian colleagues, was set up by a team from the Institute of Soil Research (Katharina Keiblinger, Elisabeth Kopecky, Axel Mentler), technician Anton Cech (Thermo Scientific) and Rosana Kral (Centre for Development Research, CDR). The course was held for two departments of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), for the Department of Agricultural Biosystems Engineering and for the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology to provide the knowledge how to use the elementary analyzer for their research work.
Co-supervised students of Katharina Keiblinger (IBF) and Rosana Kral (CDR) are already making use of the instrument for their research activities with Indonesian collaborators at the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, continuing BOKU’s longstanding collaboration with UGM, Yogyakarta.
The actions were part of joint activities with BOKU’s partner university UGM that were funded by the ASEA-Uninet Programme and the Erasmus+ teaching mobility programme.
On a yearly basis, ASEA-UNINET is funding clinical traineeships (Famulaturen), allowing students to go abroad for an exchange stay at another ASEA-UNINET Member University.
Taken in February 2018, this picture won the first prize of a photo competition run by the Medical University of Graz, showing students during their clinical traineeship in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The trainees were successfully integrated in the working life and enjoyed their experience abroad.

THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF ARTS, HUMANITIES & TECHNOLOGY
The era of globalization and the fourth industrial revolution demands mixing and adaptation in all sectors of life, including in the arts and creative industries. New arts which are the result of mixing forms from various scientific fields call themselves the intermedia arts. This art emerged as an expression of millennial-era artists by utilizing the existence of technology and the presence of a digital world that was able to present the actualization of works which in the old era were seen as impossible to be possible. This phenomenon also raises the process of art creation in the digital domain with the help of technology in the creative process. The development of the art creation and the realization of intermedia arts enriched the definition of art which had previously only been confined to the real world, now starting to manifest itself in digital world.
In 2019, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (ISI Yogyakarta) will be honored as the host of the 1st International Conference on Intermedia Arts and Creative Technology (CREATIVEARTS) which will invite practitioners of artists, lecturers, researchers, observers and students in the field of intermedia arts and creative technology to jointly present the results of their thoughts at a conference entitled: „Defining Arts and Creative Creation in Digital World“. THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF ARTS, HUMANITIES & TECHNOLOGY
Arts and humanities in their development support each other and have relevance to other scientific aspects. The more advanced human civilization, the more complex the problems encountered. This requires a complementary study of all scientific aspects. Interdisciplinary arts and humanities in the millennium era developed into something new. Many experts began to be interested in researching new scientific principles, policies, and applications which were a mixture of various disciplines to solve their problems. The development of the arts and humanities directly or indirectly ultimately determines the change in world civilization.
In 2019, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (ISI Yogyakarta) will be honored as the host of the 1st International Conference on Interdisciplinary Arts and Humanities (ICONARTIES) which will invite practitioners of artists, lecturers, researchers, observers and students in the field of arts and humanities to jointly present the results of their thoughts at a conference entitled: „Changing the world through arts and humanities„.
