Bernd Rode Award
The Bernd Rode Award (BRA) is granted by the ASEAN-European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) to outstanding scientific and higher education collaborations between its Austrian and ASEAN/Pakistani member universities. The award is given every 18 months in three different categories and is associated with financial support of up to a maximum of 4,500 Euro (depending on the category). The aim of the Bernd Rode Award is to enhance and extend the research possibilities in the context of collaborations backed by ASEA-UNINET. The award is named after the late Bernd Michael Rode, an eminent Austrian researcher, founder and former Honorary President of ASEA-UNINET.
The following information is based on the next planned call (BRA 2027) and is subject to change.
Target group: | The Award is granted in the following three categories: 1. Junior Researcher: Individual contributions conducted within the framework of ASEA-UNINET by applicants up to 5 years after completion of their PhD 2. Senior Researcher: Individual contributions, incl. publications and projects carried out in the framework of ASEA-UNINET by applicants over a period of 5 years after completion of their PhD 3. Project-based: Collaborative research conducted in the framework of ASEA-UNINET |

Eligibility requirements: | All completed/ongoing ASEA-UNINET collaborations (e.g., joint research project, research stay, scholarship), involving researchers from at least one Austrian and one ASEAN/Pakistani ASEA-UNINET member university are eligible. Submission requirements: see Further Information. |
Closing date for applications: | Next call planned for 2027. The application may be submitted either by the Austrian partner or by the ASEAN/Pakistani partner. |
Funded by: | OeAD-GmbH in cooperation with ASEA-UNINET on behalf of and financed by funds of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research |
Additional information: | The funding amount awarded has to be reinvested in future projects of research, or in higher education collaborations (for music and performing arts) within the framework of ASEA-UNINET to fund the travel and/or accommodation costs of the researcher(s) travelling between Austria and South-East Asia/Pakistan.
As of the next call, funding is distributed through the ASEA-UNINET member institution in Austria. |
